P2O® – FAQs about our Casual Porsche Party

WHAT IS P2O®?
P2O® is a friendly, casual get together of Porsche owners and enthusiasts each summer. Over the past years, the venue has moved from Pickney, to Oxford, then to Granville.  It seems like after 4-6 years it is time to re-imagine and refine what P2O® is and where it is held, while keeping true to charter a “Casual Porsche Party“, an event for the Mid-Ohio Region PCA to celebrate the things that make Porsche ownership so unique.

WHEN AND WHERE IS P2O® HELD?
On August, 5 – 7, 2022, it will be at the Cherry Valley Hotel, nestled between Granville and Newark.  Friday evening kicks off early registration and  a party at the host location  — a great way for arriving guests to park their cars, make friends, and partake in food and spirits. Saturday is our signature event with Porsches lining the drives and parking lots of the host location.  Sunday will feature a Dine & Drive to Zanesville for lunch. The hotel offers many great amenities for folks wishing to make a weekend of it and stay for the 2 nights.

WHAT KIND OF ATTENDEE TURNOUT DOES P2O® GENERATE?
The first P2O® event held in western was 2005 and included 140 registered cars. A year later, the turnout increased over 50% to 240 shiny Porsches.  In 2007, P2O® welcomed 290 cars. That number increased to 396 Porsches in 2008 and 410 cars during a rain-soaked event in 2009 . In 2012, our first year in Granville, we had over 400 cars.  Over the  years as one of the nation’s most unique Porsche-only events continues to gain an unparalleled reputation for casual fun.  For 2022 we are planning for a more exclusive event with car show parking limited to 140 cars.

HOW DID P2O® GET STARTED?
Prior to coming to Granville, the event was held in Miami University and previously in Pinckney, MI, as Porsches 2 Pinckney. In 2003, the P2P had 83 cars. After a seven month search for a new event home across dozens of cities in the tri-state, Miami University was chosen in winter 2005. P2O® is the brainchild of Marylynn Roe. In 2012, the event was moved to Granville, with an overwhelming positive response!  Due to changes beyond our control, this years event will be at the Cherry Valley Hotel and the Ohio Event Center.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PLANNING P2O®?
The Mid-Ohio Region Porsche Club of America (MORPCA) is the chief oversight committee responsible for planning, scheduling, and orchestrating the event during the off-season as well as P2O® weekend.  Janine White is the 2022 P2O® Coordinator overseeing the P2O® Committee.    Many other PCA and non-PCA Porsche enthusiasts — far too many to count — lend their help throughout the years to get everything off the ground and keep the tradition going.

WHAT EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES TAKE PLACE AT P2O®?
Schedules and events change yearly but in most cases Friday evening is reserved for a reception party and early registration. On Saturday, ‘a Casual Porsche Party’ invades the host location with hundreds of Porsches, while sponsor product demonstrations and teaching seminars are often scheduled. Afternoon door prize giveaways follows the awards ceremony. Sunday includes a road drive through the Ohio countryside.

DOES P2O® SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES AND CHARITIES?
Giving back is half the fun and P2O® makes a considerable effort to ensure the gracious people who open their venue to P2O® attendees take part in the success of the event.  P2O’s® signature charitable donation goes to a prominent cancer foundation.  In 2022, this years charity, Cancer Support Community of Central Ohio, will be on hand during the event.  Everyone knows someone affected by cancer and your help makes a difference in raising money and awareness. Event Co-Founder Marylynn Roe battled cancer courageously before her passing in 2006 and her legacy is one we strive hard to maintain.  Money is raised through registrations, Marylynn’s Row, reserved parking, and often a 50/50 raffle during the event. Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 each year thru P2O® efforts.

Many coupons and specials for P2O® attendees are available for use at local businesses and restaurants to help provide a positive boost to the local economy. We encourage all attendees to patronize local businesses to demonstrate your appreciation for their warm welcome.

WHAT COMPANIES AND BUSINESSES HAVE SUPPORTED P2O?®
P2O® has benefited from terrific support over the years through key sponsorship opportunities that target the things attendees have a key interest in. Current supporters include Stoddards, Byers Imports (Columbus), Auto Assets, Autobahn Extremist, Forgeline Wheels, and several other restaurants and locally owned businesses.
